GRAFENWÖHR, Germany - The Bavaria Community and Spouses’ Club (BCSC) recently held their 2024 Fall Cycle Scholarship and Community Outreach Grant cycle and are pleased to announce 11 scholarship recipients and 35 Community Outreach Grant recipients were selected from the applicants to receive funds. The combined amount awarded to recipients for this cycle is $69,067 from BCSC Community Welfare Funds.

During the 2023-2024 board year, the Club allocated more than $164,000 to the Tower and Rose Barracks community, including continuing education credit reimbursements, reimbursements for dependents’ eyeglasses, and event sponsorships. These funds come from BCSC’s fundraising efforts that are primarily based on the profits of both the Grafenwöhr and Vilseck Thrift Shops as well as the annual Crown Jewel Bazaar

About BCSC Scholarships

BCSC runs two scholarship application cycles a board year available to Club members and their dependents. Scholarships are for high school seniors and continuing education students who have already taken or will take college credit courses at an accredited college or university. Scholarship funds are sent to the award recipients’ institution for tuition, books, laboratory and exam fees.

About BCSC Community Outreach Grants

Grants are awarded to local, national, and international organizations within the Tower and Rose Barracks footprint. Organizations can apply during cycles held twice a board year and requests must adhere to grant eligibility requirements.

About PEARL

The Professional Education And Reimbursement For Licensure (PEARL) Program was introduced to the Tower and Rose Barracks’ community in Fall of 2023. Applicants must be a dependent with a sponsor assigned to, living in, and working in the USAG Bavaria Tower Bavaria Community and Spouses’ Club Communities. The program is designed to reimburse one credit (up to $300.00) per recipient, per board year (June 1 - May 31).

About BRIGHT EYES

Qualifying children (infants up to 23 years old) of active duty military or DoD employees will receive up to $100 credit after the purchase of prescription eyeglasses from AAFES, Host Nation Optical Shops, and reputable online retailers.

About the Bavaria Community and Spouses’ Club

The Bavaria Community and Spouses’ Club (BCSC) has been an active spouses club since 1956. BCSC’s mission is to support educational, charitable and social projects, and activities that benefit the local military community. We strive to strengthen the community with our fellowship and welfare programs. BCSC operates the Rose Barracks and Tower Barracks Thrift Shops providing affordable items to soldiers, their families, and DOD civilians. Thrift Shop profits go into the BCSC Community Welfare Funds used for educational scholarships, Bright Eyes, PEARL, sponsorships, and Community Outreach Grants.
