“Stepsisters” at Ramstein’s Razz Ma Tazz theater is a fun-filled, high-energy comedy with non-stop laughs.
Directed by Lisa Smith, “Stepsisters” offers a fresh twist on the classic Cinderella story, transporting the audience to an imaginative world full of comedy, chaos and romance while imparting an important message of loyalty and friendship.
After the sudden loss of her father, Ella (Athena Reynolds) finds herself living with her stepmother, Crane (Courtney Hickman), and her two stepsisters, Drew (Mackenzie Dager) and Beth (Gigi Mayer/Leila Merson).
But when an unexpected run-in with the chancellor, Viktor (Dorian Schwarz), and his eccentric sidekick, Lacki (Janelle Ginsburg), forces the family to move to the outskirts of town, Crane becomes determined to claw her way back to high society—at Ella’s expense.
Meanwhile, things take a turn when Drew and Beth run into a group of popular girls—Grisel (Zofia Drybola), Beatrix (Everly Estes), and Constance (Hazel Wall)—who waste no time putting them down. The trio brings the same snobby charm as the iconic “Mean Girls” clique with spectacular entrances, signature dance moves and perfectly timed sarcasm. Their scenes drip with humor and flair, making them an absolute joy to watch.

Costumes for the show are far from the medieval style you might expect to see. This production shakes things up with spandex, neon colors, and a whole lot of 80s flair. The bold costume designs perfectly highlight the delightful differences this show brings. After all, who wouldn’t love seeing royals dressed as iconic pop stars or the villain rocking a sleek Don Johnson suit?
“The stupid Brothers Grimm—they got it wrong again.”
Overhearing the girls’ snarky comments, Ella plays along as the stepsister’s servant, a role that conveniently excludes her from the highly anticipated royal ball. But just when it seems like all hope is lost, a surprising ally—stepsister Drew—steps in with a little magical help.
This high-energy musical is filled with puns and other comedic sketches During one scene, the audience roars with laughter as the Baker (Gigi Mayer/Leila Merson) yells out, “Ya’ll come down and grab my buns.” Without missing beat, a thief (TJ Hoffmann) snatched the baguette and smartly announced, “Got it!”
As thing progress to the ball, sparks fly between Ella and Prince Harrison (Glory Carnes) as the cast sings “Someone Like You.” However, before revealing her true identity, she dashes away, leaving behind only a single slipper. With nothing but the lost shoe as a clue, Harrison embarks on a quest to find the mysterious girl who stole his heart.

Not only is the slipper iconic in Cinderella, but it is also an essential catalyst to this tale. After the “averaged-sized” slipper fits the wrong foot, mayhem ensues. Harrison hastily proposes to the wrong sister and falls victim to Viktor’s evil scheme to rule the kingdom.
Collectively working together like a tight-knit family, the cast shares the story with enthusiasm and honesty. Their efforts shine throughout the production, especially during the royal ballroom scenes, where they effortlessly capture the audience’s attention through dance, song, and comedic timing. In addition, creative directing throughout show transitions finds cast members Evialina Han and Violet Pratt using a chalkboard and sketches to transport the audience to different locations, such as a laboratory, throne room and bedroom.
In the nick of time, fate takes an unexpected turn, setting everything right, leading to a truly magical happily-ever-after. But how does it all come together? Well, you’ll just have to see for yourself!
At the heart of the story, Ella’s kindness and humility shine, reminding us that true worth isn’t about wealth or status—it’s about the meaningful connections we build. As the story wraps up, we’re left with a touching message about the power of compassion and staying true to ourselves.
