I love reading. I miss the days when I was rewarded for reading with a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut. This love of reading has brought about a love of collecting books. However, when it came time to move from the U.S. to Europe, I had to choose which books came with me and which books went to the storage unit for the years we would live overseas.
Once I got here, I realized that I wanted to read some of the books that had been deemed “storage unit books,” and found myself looking at the on-base library; sometimes having success and sometimes not. Then, I found myself scouring used book websites like Thriftbooks, but that led to owning two copies of the same book. As much as I like collecting books, I knew constantly buying books was not the best solution.
In came the Libby App.
Libby is an app that allows you to use your library card to access 36,000 e-books, 35,000 audiobooks, 5,0000 magazines, plenty of courses and more for free. The best part is that you can use your DOD ID to access the app.
While Libby hasn’t had every book I have searched for, it has saved me more than once from purchasing another book. If you have a DOD ID and want to try Libby for yourself, there are just a few simple steps.
