Professional Organizations
Look out for opportunities to get involved with professional organizations such as the Company Grade Officers Council (CGOC), First Four, 5/6 or Top 3. They are a great starting point to join mentorship programs, workshops and more to expand your skillsets.
There is so much to take away and learn as a volunteer. It is a great way to connect with your new home and create a community that makes your time here memorable and fun. Volunteering can help you gain experience and a network in the military world, but also your host nation.
• Visit the installation’s M&FRC, FSS, American Red Cross and the United Service Organizations (USO).
• Reach out to various offices across the installation that align with the career field you’re interested in. You never know if they need volunteers or are willing to let people shadow them.
