White wine and cheese on wine barrel in vineyard

White wine and cheese on wine barrel in vineyard ()

A crisp, aromatic glass of Riesling pairs well with a gorgeous sunset, but what about a sunrise? The Wild family invites you to find out at their holiday farm, Schlafen im Weinfass, where you can spend a romantic evening sleeping among the grapevines in your very own 8,000-liter wine barrel.

Originally built in 1665, the great-grandfather of the current owner purchased the property in 1890, and it has been a family affair ever since. Today, members of three of the four generations are working together on the estate.

The cozy quarters are beautifully furnished and heated throughout the winter months, making it the perfect spot to catch a rare glimpse of grapevines covered in snow. You may select your barrel based on its vicinity and view. Situated in the heart of the Black Forest, 350 meters above the picturesque village of Sasbachwalden and at the foot of the Hornisgrinde, beautiful scenery is not hard to come by, no matter which location you choose. Amenities range from separate sanitary and residential barrels, as well as comfortable living areas. Toilets and showers are also available on the nearby farm. In addition to the wine, 30 fruit brandies and liqueurs are produced on-site and sold in the farm store.

Make your holiday last a little longer by planning day trips to the nearby towns of Triberg, Baden-Baden and Strasbourg. To reserve your wine barrel and find out more, visit www.schlafen-im-weinfass.de.
