On May 31, 2024, the Ramstein High graduating class of around 180 students walked across the stage of Hangar Five. Graduation speakers included the principal, Mr. Fredo Ontiveros, motivational speaker Dr. Hall, and several student leaders. The Ramstein High Show Choir, led by Ms. Dion Kruczek, performed “The Star Spangled Banner” and a mashup between “Story of Tonight” and “You Will Be Found.” The Ramstein High School Band, led by Dr. Mario Bertoluzzi, performed “Pomp and Circumstance,” “Funiculi Funicula” and “I Want You Back.”
Mr. Ontiveros, the principal of Ramstein High School, in his opening speech, stated that the location of the ceremony “rich in military heritage, serves as a poignant reminder of the vital missions…to defend U.S. interests, project power and enable the global gateway.” Hangar Five is the location of the 86th Airlift Wing. It serves as a reminder of the location of Ramstein High School and its impact on the students. Some highlights of the Ramstein experience, according to senior Amelia McCrory, included “a lucky few that returned to the States… doing everything we could to beat the seniors…parties at Seawoog.”
Ramstein High School’s graduating class of 2024 also has a very prestigious lineup of universities. Schools include Cornell University, University of Florida, Appalachian State University, and Arizona State University. Students plan to attend universities all over the world, in countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and more.
To graduate from DoDEA schools as a part of the class of 2024, students must have a GPA (Grade Point Average) of at least 2.0. Students also take courses in English, math, science, history, foreign language, technology, physical education and fine arts. To earn an Honors Diploma, a student must also take an economic literacy course and at least four Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) courses. Of the roughly 180 seniors in the Class of 2024, approximately fifty graduated with an Honors Diploma.
The accomplishments of Ramstein High School students are already at a great quantity. Throughout their university or employment ambitions, the students of this graduating class are sure to find success in their journeys.
