We have bad news. Delicious chicken sandwiches are NOT coming to American military bases in Europe.
The Army and Air Force Exchange Service website and Facebook page announced the highly sought after sandwiches would be available at Exchange Popeyes locations in Germany and Italy. AAFES has since corrected the error and spokesperson Julie Mitchell says, "As soon as we know when we can launch it globally, we'll tell the world."
Across the pond, the sandwich will return to American locations this Sunday.
The madness of Popeyes first launch of its chicken sandwich created a pandemonium across the country that included long lines and stores quickly running out. It even sparked a playful Twitter feud between Chick-fil-A and Popeyes when Chick-fil-A fired the first shot.
Chick-fil-A is still in the U.K. for five more months.
I'm personally disappointed I had to delete all my awesome Popeye cartoon puns.
