Best known for aged cask ales and ciders, British brews are in a league all their own. Similar to the German Reinheitsgebot (purity law), the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) defines British real ale as being made with certain ingredients, and more natural processing and fermenting in the container (usually a cask) in which it is made. The result is a smooth, flavorful brew with unique tastes and aromas. Sample for yourself at the Cambridge Beer Festival from May 21-26.
Celebrating 45 years, the Cambridge Beer Festival boasts more than 200 beers from 100 different breweries, and more than 60 varieties of fruity ciders and perries (pear-based ciders). This event is the oldest CAMRA beer fests, and is also one of the largest in the U.K. Set along the scenic River Cam in the heart of Cambridge, it’s the perfect place to sit back and enjoy the suds and the scenery.
