It’s fitting that the largest pumpkin festival in the world, the Ludwigsburg Pumpkin Festival, (Kürbisausstellung), would also hold an amazing event: The Pumpkin Canoe Regatta.

Starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 16, courageous canoeists will hop in hollowed-out pumpkins and race. Make no mistake – this is more than just a hilarious sport as paddlers show off their talent in precariously balanced pumpkins; there is a finalist round Sept. 17, and cash prizes range from 50 to 100 euros!
The event has consistently grown in popularity making pre-registration a must. Competitors may bring their own gigantic pumpkins, or if accepted as a contestant, row in a pumpkin provided for them, via a tractor.

Regardless if you plan to hop in a pumpkin yourself – or prefer to stay dry ashore and watch the fun, this is a uniquely hilarious event the whole family will enjoy.
