Castel Sant’ Angelo ()
There is so much to see and do in Rome that it can be overwhelming. I have put this itinerary together to help you better plan. There were three adults and no children on this trip, so substitute and re-arrange as needed.
This is day seven of the trip. We allotted time to walk to the attractions. Please note for the dinner options, there were plenty of non-pasta options as well, but I could usually only eat the pasta course and dessert. For most restaurants and attractions, reservations are highly recommended. Click here to see a condensed itinerary of all seven days in Rome.

Day Seven
Wake-Up: 7:30 a.m. (to sit and eat breakfast) | 8 a.m. (to eat breakfast on the go)
Breakfast from Caffe Camerino.
Castel Sant’Angelo (Recommend two hours)
We had 10 a.m. reservations.
Also known as the Mausoleum of Hadrian
Explore ancient rooms and have fantastic views of the city.
Lunch: Panino Divino
This is sandwiches again. We were sad because it was our last day to eat to eat porchetta.
I recommend: The Campano
St. Peter’s Basilica (Recommend three hours)
No reservations, just stood in line for about 20 minutes to get in.
There were no working free restrooms on-site. We had to pay an extra fee to enter the dome area to find the restrooms. It was very beautiful and worth the extra money, but initially we paid for entrance because I needed a restroom. There are, however, some free toilets next to the Basilica’s exit area off-site, which I learned after we left. Go there first.
My favorite spots: The Tomb of the Popes and Pope John Paul II’s memorial spot.
Dinner: Borghiciana Pastificio Artigianale (very limited seating with only around 17 seats total, no reservations taken)
We lucked into the last three-person table at this spot.
I recommend: Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe and Tiramisu Classico.
After Dinner Activity: Gelato and walking around. Grabbing some last souvenirs from the outdoor kiosks. At these kiosks, available all over, I was able to find magnets, postcards and Italian Pokémon cards (among other traditional trinkets).
Sandwich and Coke Zero on a lunch deli counter (Tamala Malerk)
With seven days in Rome, we were able to see almost everything. However, there are a few things that we would explore more were we to go back.
Gold sculpture in the interior St. Peter’s Basilica (Tamala Malerk)
Shops and Restaurants
Tattoo Parlor, Art Gallery and Cocktail Bar
Houses works from Monets and van Goghs among its 5000 paintings
Was under construction when we were there but reopened in Dec. 2024.
Large and well-preserved baths site.
