If Metz’s Marché de Noël is on your list of Christmas markets to attend this season, don’t miss Féérie de Glace. From Nov. 19 to Jan. 15, more than 80 ice sculptures will be on display in the 1,400-square-meter thermal hangar at Place de République.

For five weeks, 30 artists from 12 countries work tirelessly to transform more than 600 tons of ice into a frosty fabled wonderland. The works of Charles Perrault, the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen have inspired this year’s whimsical fairy-tale theme.

The exhibit will be open daily 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Temperatures hover at a chilly 20 degrees Fahrenheit to preserve the pieces, so be sure to dress warmly. You can thaw your fingers with a steamy cup of Christmas market vin chaud afterward.
