Italian city decorated for Christmas

Italian city decorated for Christmas ()

Want a fun and unique holiday experience but can’t quite make it up to the northern Christmas markets? There are plenty of great options locally in Naples. With pop-up markets around the city center and the centuries-old shops along Via San Gregorio Armeno, there is no shortage of holiday cheer. If you want a family-friendly festive outing, head to the Mercatini di Natale at the National Railway Museum.

The museum transforms into a magical winter wonderland from Dec. 2, 2023, through Jan. 7, 2024. Twinkling lights, decorations, and wooden huts offering local wares and authentic local cuisine are set among vintage trains and exhibits. Little ones will stay entertained with music, games, performances and maybe even a visit to Santa’s house! This year, join a special scavenger hunt for a coveted Golden Ticket.

The Mercatini di Natale is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., with the last entry at 9:30 p.m. The market is closed Dec. 4, 11, 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1-2, 2023. Ticket prices Monday through Friday are 8 euros for 13 and older and 6 euros for children ages 3-12. Prices for the weekend and holidays are 12 euros for everyone 13 and older and six euros for children ages 3-12. This is a popular event, so purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended.
