The highest ski resort in Switzerland is located on the Matterhorn Mountain, where skiing enthusiasts from around the world come to experience perfect runs, modern lifts and fantastic ski schools. With over 180 miles of open runs in varying difficulties, skiers of all skill levels can enjoy a holiday here. The Matterhorn is the sixth highest summit in the Alps, towering at 14,692 feet.   • The Matterhorn sits on the border between Switzerland and Italy. Zermatt is the town at the base of the mountain in Switzerland.

  • Beginners ski pass (blue runs) includes unlimited use of the Sunnegga funicular, Sunnegga-Blauherd combi cableway, Leisee Shuttle, Eisfluh chairlift and Findeln chairlift, use of Wolli’s Beginner Park and use of the local bus. Prices start at 50 Swiss francs.

  • You can visit the Matterhorn Glacier Palace by taking a 40-minute journey in one of the new Crystal Ride cabins. At the top, you’ll be in Europe’s highest mountain station, with the opportunity to go higher still to the summit. Here you’ll have a stunning 360 degree view of 38 Alpine mountains. Tickets start at 82.50 Swiss francs.

  • Extreme skiers can book a heli-skiing tour with Air Zermatt. Prices start at 145 Swiss francs without a guide.

  • Hungry skiers will find a multitude of mountain restaurants catering to the people who just want to eat and get right back on the slopes.

  • There are two photo points where you can get your souvenir photo taken: on the Rothorn and on Trockener Steg. All you have to do is activate the camera with the lift pass and smile! No need for selfies with these handy cameras standing at the ready.
