Game of Thrones may be over, but you can still bring a little bit of that HBO magic back into your life by visiting some of these stunning GOT filming locations in Europe.

1. Doune Castle, Scotland A.K.A the original Winterfell

Although the filming location of Winterfell has since changed, I think this is probably my favorite Winterfell. Am I biased because I’ve actually toured this location? Perhaps, but the best part of visiting Doune Castle is you get free range of the place. I’m not kidding. Feel free to climb up every steep and scary staircase. There are no limits.

2. Dark Hedges, Northern Ireland A.K.A The King’s Road

You may remember this beautiful and ominous tree-lined path from when Arya Stark, disguised as a boy, finally escapes King’s Landing. Now you can visit this incredible path for yourself, and it was recently voted one of the most beautiful places in the world!

3. Ballintoy Harbour, Ireland A.K.A The Iron Islands

Visit the location where Theon returns to the Iron Islands to meet his sister Yara. Unlike the grim and bleak portrayal of the Iron Islands seen in the show, all pictures showed the Harbour as surprisingly bright and sunny. It’s still Ireland though so, no guarantees.

4. Vatnajökull, Iceland A.K.A Beyond the Wall

It may not be one of the warmest Game of Thrones filming locations but it sure is one of the most amazing. Vatnajökull, or beyond the wall, is the largest ice cap in Iceland! Ready for another fun fact? There are MULTIPLE volcanoes and volcanic lakes just lurking underneath this icy tundra.

5. Almería, Spain A.K.A Vaes Dothrak and Dorne.

Almería is a twofer! This desert landscape not only serves as home to the fierce Dothraki warriors but also lends its Alcazaba fortress to be the capital of Dorne, ruled by the House Martell.

6. Girona, Spain A.K.A Braavos

If you’re having trouble remembering Braavos I’ll give you a hint: you enter the city underneath a GIANT statue of a warrior named Titan, who stands with each foot on a different mini-island. Remember now? No? Okay, it’s home to the House of Black and White, the temple dedicated to the Many-Faced God. Anywho, you can visit “Braavos” in beautiful Girona, Spain!

7. Dubrovnik, Croatia A.K.A King’s Landing

Probably one of the most well-known Game of Thrones locations but still one of the most beautiful is Dubrovnik, Croatia, or our very own King’s Landing. The city is absolutely stunning and you’ll have no problem finding a Game of Thrones tour there. Trust me.

If you have the means to travel this summer you really can’t go wrong with any of the Game of Thrones filming locations. HBO’s location scouts must be worth every penny because any of these gorgeous locations will certainly offer a trip to remember. Plus, something has to get us through the long winter of waiting.
