Morning
To provide yourself energy for a busy day ahead, start off with an English breakfast at the Regency Café. This art-deco inspired restaurant serves an authentic English breakfast consisting of beans, toast, black pudding, omelets and hash browns.
Next, head to Westminster Abbey, a 700-year-old church filled with British history. To save on time, buy tickets online.
Right at the north end of the Palace of Westminster is Big Ben, you know, that big clock that everyone takes pictures of? Note that due to renovations, this famous landmark will be covered in scaffolds, so taking an Instagram worthy picture may be difficult.
Tip: Purchase a day travel card to discover London faster. The Underground is the best way of public transport that allows you to get the full London experience. Don’t forget to mind the gap!
Afternoon
Though a bit far, Tower Bridge is a popular bridge that’s not to be missed. Take the tube and capture this bridge from Butler’s Wharf, a historic building on the southern part of the River Thames, for the best angle.
Attention Harry Potter Fans! Visit Platform 9 ¾ at King’s Cross Station to take a picture of you getting ready to enter a world full of wizards and magic! Since there a lot of wizards out there, be prepared to wait in line, though it goes by quickly. While you’re there, buy your favorite souvenirs inspired from the series at the gift shop also located at this station.
Looking for something to see other than the iconic sights? Check out Covent Garden, London’s main theater and entertainment area. Many high-end and elegant stores can be found here, especially at Seven Dials, a small road junction where seven streets converge.
If you’re craving an amazing burger, or are like me and miss Manhattan, eat at Shake Shack located in this area.
Use the underground and check out Buckingham Palace, the famous headquarters where the royal family resides. You can visit the State Rooms where ceremonial occasions and entertainments are held.
If you’re into Broadway shows, head to the TKTS counter to see what shows are playing. This booth shows you last minute and discount theater tickets.
Indulge in some shopping and sightseeing in Piccadilly Circus, a brightly lit public square that is close to the major shopping areas. This circle has a similar vibe to Times Square.
Evening
A trip to London won’t be complete unless you grub on fish and chips or their famous steak and ale pies! For the best English dinner experience, visit The Queens Head located in Piccadilly Circus.
London is known for their pubs, so finding a great one won’t be a problem. Order a snake bite, a popular drink made with half lager and cider with a dash of blackcurrant cordial and reward yourself for tackling on this city in just 24 hours!
