Simone Atkinson, creator of Kid Friendly Tours, won the Association of Military Spouse Entrepreneurs’ (AMSE®) 2024 Military Spouse Entrepreneur Award. Founded in 2019, AMSE® “connects Military Spouse entrepreneurs with the tools and resources needed to become successful in launching and growing their businesses. AMSE® is an exclusive community for Military Spouse Entrepreneurs to start, scale, and sustain their business.” AMSE has created a network of over 1900 entrepreneurs and offers in-person and online events and networking opportunities for its members.

Simone is a mom of two toddlers and currently based in Hohenfels, Germany. She launched Kid Friendly Tours in February 2023 with the mission to “help parents reclaim their sense of adventure.”
She offers trips to destinations in Europe, Africa and Asia and has partnered with nannies in 32 countries. Trips are stroller-friendly, and an “Adult Day” is built into every itinerary. Parents can choose to either leave their child with a trusted nanny or bring the nanny along as a “second set of hands.”

When asked for tips for other military spouses thinking about starting a small business, she stated, “do it.”
