You are cordially invited to the wedding of the season as Bavaria Performing Arts in Grafenwöhr ushers you into a Greek island paradise with their performance of “Mamma Mia.”

The mystery surrounding Sophie Sheridan (Susanna Lynch), as she prepares to get married to Sky Masterson (Issac Bird) at her mom’s beautiful Greek taverne, is more than she can take. Set to solve it, Sophie invites three unsuspecting guests to join her as she plans to take the plunge into marriage. Lynch lights up the stage with her voice as she emotionally delivers the complex feelings of sorting through the unknown in songs such as Voulez-Vous and SOS.

Sophie’s need for answers, creates confusion and chaos for her mother, Donna Sheridan (Melissa Kimball), when the three blasts from her past, Harry Bright (Brian Carlin), Bill Austin (Michael Phillips) and Sam Carmichael (Mike Smith) descend upon her island sanctuary.

Sets and props beautifully transform this theater space into the idyllic Greek island resort that Donna has worked hard to create. With bright blue tables, muted stucco hues, cobblestones and trailing vines, you cannot miss dreaming of an island escape.

Donna, supported by lifelong gal pals, Rosie (Melissa Malan) and Tanya (Vanessa Smith), rides a rollercoaster of emotions as the past is dredged up through ABBA-licious classics like “Chiquitita,” “Super Trooper,” and “Dancing Queen.” Smith perfects the saucy, sassy role of Tanya as she throws playfully bold one-liners and flaunts her confidence throughout the scenes.

As Sophie unravels the story of her mother’s concealed past to reconcile with the missing void in her life, Donna learns other truths from her long-lost trio of dudes as the ensemble weaves delightful and fun songs throughout the show.

Under the music direction of Gretchen Lynch and choreography of Kayleigh Vaughn and Adrianna Latham, this show will have you toe tapping and finger snapping with each song. And don’t worry, the audiences’ restraint from singing along comes to an end as the cast encourages you to join them singing and dancing along during the final numbers.
