EUROPE

Prague is full of fantastic architecture, history and, of course, fabulous food and drink. The weekend my family visited, the weather wasn’t as cooperative as we had hoped. Our daughter, who is a notoriously picky eater, automatically voted for the nearest Mickey D’s. Since we’d already sacrificed our taste buds to the Golden Arches two time on the trip, we decided to look for something a little more decidedly authentic. As we were walking along the rain soaked streets of this magnificent city, we came across Kozlovna Apropos. It boasted good beer and good food (including French fries to placate our daughter), so we stopped in.

The pub has a cozy, warm vibe to it. The walls were bare woods, with industrial lighting to give it a fun ambiance. The service was very friendly and offered menus in several different languages. We ordered a bread basket to start, goulash soup and split a roasted meat platter. To wash it down, my husband and I both had a locally brewed Pilsner. The food came quickly and looked absolutely divine. The goulash had just enough spice, and the addition of beer into the stock added complexity to the dish. The meat platter was amazing. The pork was tender and cooked to perfection. My daughter loved her French fries so much, we had to order her a second serving.

Prices weren’t overly expensive, especially considering the amount and quality of food. There was an excellent mix of locals and tourists alike, and English is easily spoken. If you’re looking for a nice place to escape the hustle and bustle near the St. Charles Bridge, it’s definitely worth stopping in.
