Stripes Europe recently attended the Wiesbaden “Back to School Bash” where we got to see kids, teachers and parents preparing for the new school year. We shared information about our free publications like “Dandelions” made especially for military kids, as well as our student volunteer writing program.

Chris Dickson, Wiesbaden’s School Liason Officer was excited to discuss the event, saying “The real Rockstars of the event are the over 60 booths offering games, giveaways, activities and information as a great way to get kids excited and offer support to kids and military families, setting a positive tone for the new school year.

We asked students three questions:

What excites you about the first day of school?

What was your favorite thing you did this summer?

What advice do you have for other kids moving to Germany?

Lots of kids were excited to see their old friends and make new ones, many of them enjoyed popsicles and the pool over summer, and the overall advice for kids moving to Germany was “to not be scared.”
