Boat Craft Step Two

Step Two: Add color.

Get creative! Color your carton with markers or paint. This will be the hull of your boat. Add stripes, polka dots, fish or anchors! Let your paint dry.

Boat Craft Step Three

Step Three: Make your sails.

  • Use scissors (get an adult to help) and cut your paper into different sized triangles. These will be sails and flags for the masts of your boat.

  • Fold your triangles in half. When you wrap them around the mast your flag will show on both sides.

Step Four: Make your masts.

  • Cut your straws or skewer sticks to the height you want. These are your masts. I made one a little smaller than the other.

  • Fold the paper around the masts so that the two points of the triangle meet.

  • Use glue or tape on the inside of the triangles to hold them together.

  • Use as few or as many triangles as you want!

Boat Craft Step Five

Step Five: Attach your masts to the boat.

  • Use your masts to poke a hole into the middle of the cones on the carton.

  • Put a dab of glue at the ends of your masts and stick them in the holes.

  • Hold until the glue is dry, and your masts can stand up straight on their own
