The final weekend before the school year begins is often filled with last-minute vacations and day trips. For those living in the U.K., Aug. 24-26 also marks the August bank holiday weekend. This year, expect delays, cancellations and more crowding than usual as National Rail services will be significantly reduced and unavailable in some locations.

King’s Cross Station will be severely impacted Aug. 24-25, with no train service due to track upgrades and maintenance. However, the King’s Cross/St. Pancras underground station will operate as normal. Travelers on Thameslink lines will need to find alternate routes on these days, as there will be no service between King’s Cross/St. Pancras and Peterborough. Additionally, if you’re traveling on the London Northeastern Railway (LNER), be sure to check the website before departure for any changes or delays. Greater Anglia rails services will also be affected, with longer journey times in and out of Cambridge. Those traveling on East Midlands lines will also need to modify travel plans, as there will be no trains in and out of King’s Cross/St. Pancras.
