In the heart of Mosel River wine country, the Bernkastel-Kues market not only offers festive stalls with regional wines, handcrafted goods and seasonal treats but also has a distinctive charm. Among the oldest towns in Germany, Bernkastel-Kues' cobblestoned roads and half-timbered homes add to the old-world Christmas feel.

Christmas market dates: Nov. 19-Dec. 19, 2021

Location: Altstadt of Bernkastel-Kues

Helpful hints: Glühwein at this market is made from the finest quality regional Riesling (white) and Dornfelder (red) grapes — try it if you haven't found one you like yet. You can purchase mulled wine by the liter to take home.

Print the map of market must-sees and parking locations before your visit. You can park along the banks of the Mosel, in the underground Alter Bahnhof or on Cusanusstraße

Hop on the free weekend shuttle bus that travels between the markets in Bernkastel-Kues and Traben-Trarbach.

Beyond the market: Take a few laps around the ice rink. It is open daily through early January, and discounted tickets for children are available.

Trek up to the ruined Landshut Castle, which is perched above the old town. Also have a glass of wine at the cutest half-timbered building in Germany, the Weinstube Spitzhäuschen.

Have a magical time at the Christmas market of Bernkastel-Kues!
