EUROPE

Undoubtedly, summer break looks much different this year. With many Child Development Centers (CDCs) and Youth Centers still shuttered, weeklong day camps and activities for children have been canceled. However, the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Europe has come up with some fantastic options to keep the boredom at bay with DoDEA Summer Virtual Enrichment.

Beginning this week, students going into kindergarten through grade 12 can login into Google meet sessions and participate in a vast array of classes and clubs. Elementary students in K-5 grades can join in groups such as a running and fitness club, different culture appreciation clubs, scavenger hunts and, of course, a Minecraft and Pokémon club. Middle school kids can attempt to recreate culinary masterpieces in the Cooking – Nailed It! group, learn how to code or test their knowledge with different trivia groups. High school students can join in online board games, Model United Nations summer camp, learn about digital storytelling and get a jump on prepping for JROTC and AP classes for the upcoming year.

Registration is required and several groups have a participant limit. While most offerings are for all students, there are a few school-specific clubs listed as well. For more information and to see what is available, visit https://sites.google.com/student.dodea.edu/summer-virtual-enrichment/home.
