If you have tickets to this weekend’s Rock-am-Ring festival in Mendig, be prepared for delays, rain and a lot of mud. Steady rainfall over the past few days has completely saturated the festival grounds, creating headaches with parking and campsites. Traffic congestion began Thursday, with more delays likely throughout the weekend. Festival organizers are encouraging attendees to use alternate or public transportation, as the mud has made many of the parking spots inaccessible.
In its 31st year, Rock-am-Ring is a three-day rock festival that runs simultaneously with Rock-im-Park in Nuremberg. The lineup for both festivals is virtually identical, and rotates between days. This year's headliners are the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath and Volbeat. The festival kicks off Friday afternoon. Previous headliners include U2, Aerosmith, the Dave Matthews Band, Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park and Coldplay.
