Vicenza Community of Color (ViCC) events (ViCC)

Vicenza Community of Color (ViCC), a nonprofit organization within the Vicenza Military Community, was founded in 2024 by military spouses and a retired Army veteran to address the need for greater cultural representation and connection. Driven by a mission to promote inclusivity and unity, ViCC creates opportunities for the Vicenza community to celebrate and appreciate the diverse cultures represented within the U.S. military.

ViCC’s cultural events have included the Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast, Black History Month, Juneteenth, and Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations. These events are made possible through donations and support from community organizations like the Vicenza Community Club (VCC), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Caserma Pride, USO, Red Cross, and Howard Z. Plummer Lodge #31. They provide a platform for shared experiences and cultural learning. Members of the community can volunteer their talents, whether through dance, cooking, or sharing their heritage, creating a fulfilling experience for all involved.

In addition to cultural celebrations, ViCC hosts monthly meetups to foster connections among community members. These gatherings offer a range of activities, from wine tastings in the scenic Veneto region to karaoke, hiking, game nights, and even a winter basketball tournament and a March Madness challenge. Through these events, ViCC provides a welcoming space where the Vicenza military community can come together, build friendships, and celebrate cultural diversity.

Our next upcoming cultural event is the MLK Prayer Breakfast on January 16, 2025. The MLK Prayer Breakfast is an event we host yearly bringing together the Vicenza military community to reflect on themes of justice, unity, and service. This event features guest speakers from our military community and gospel performances. This year, ViCC will present the MLK Supporting Change Agents Scholarship to a military spouse or high school student to support their pursuit of education and professional growth. Funded by generous donations, this scholarship empowers recipients to become impactful leaders in their communities, carrying forward Dr. King’s vision of resilience, equality, and positive change.
