For the ultimate haunted house, many Halloween enthusiasts find themselves at the Frankenstein Castle Halloween party in Pfungstadt, which promises to make your blood run cold while adrenaline courses through your body as you are scared senseless. The 1,000-plus-year-old castle ruins bring evil out into the open while turning Halloween into one of the scariest nights of your life. The hairs on your arms will stand on end while your nerves are nearly fried. from fright as a seemingly endless amount of unknown creatures lurk in the darkness.

This year marks the 42nd anniversary, so of course, everything is bigger and more terrifying. Don’t be surprised when Freddy Krüger crawls straight out of your nightmares and into the scene in front of you. With 14 areas full of fright, you’re sure to have a screamin’ good time at this Halloween bash. From witches to clowns, there is something terrifying for everyone!

If your stomach isn’t churning from fright, grab a bite to eat at any one of the various food and drink stands in the castle courtyard. Don’t miss grabbing a drink from the Monster Bar, where you can have mulled wine and cocktails.

Children can enjoy a less spooky party on Sundays filled with food, fun and no fear. There are kid-friendly shows from 2 - 6 p.m. However, if your child runs for cover at the sight of the Easter bunny, they may suffer from some shock when they see the characters in costume here!

Quick facts:

  • The party rages on from Oct. 25-27, Oct. 31-Nov. 3 and Nov. 8-10. 

  • Opening hours are Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. 

  • Parking at the castle is not allowed during the Halloween events. Park at Toom Baumarkt where there are regular shuttles leaving for the castle. The shuttle takes 15 minutes. 

  • Ticket prices start at 25 euros per person or 17 euros on kids’ Sundays. 

  • Tickets can be purchased online

  • There will be a fireworks show the evening of Thursday, Oct. 31.
