With modernist, impressionist, classical, modern art and more the Staatsgalarie Stuttgart has something for everyone. This weekend is your last chance to experience a previously private collection that is unparalleled in its comprehensive nature. The incredible post-impressionist collection "Flora Awakening" is being presented by the Staatsgalerie until June 18. Swiss couple Arthur and Hedy Hahnloser-Bühler worked together to accumulate hundreds of pieces of modernist art during their marriage, displaying them in their home, “Villa Flora,” until their descendants established a foundation to maintain and present their priceless artwork. Lucky for the public today, their post-impressionist fascination was seated in works dated between 1906 and 1936 – a time known for rapid stylistic change.

Thanks to their diligent collecting, the artists featured in the collection include everyone from Renoir to Van Gogh, from Cézanne to Manet, nearly every trailblazer in the modernist era is represented. There's a special focus on Félix Vallotton, Pierre Bonnard and Édouard Vuillard, with emphasis on Matisse's Fauvism. More than one hundred paintings and sculptures from 15 different artists amass the impressive collection. The styles within the exhibit work in specially curated harmony to tell the story of the post-impressionist movements of the early 20th century.

Tickets are free for children and young adults under 20 years of age. Tickets range from 9.50 to 12 euros depending on student status and requested access to special collections within the exhibit. You can book your tickets online on the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart website.
