The Basics

The Stuttgart Frühlingsfest (Spring Festival) is a large, family-friendly fair that runs from the middle of April to the beginning of May every year. This year the festival will be held from April 20th to May 12th, 2019 and marks the 80th anniversary of the event. The event will be located at the Cannstatter Wasen Exhibition Center in Stuttgart, and is sure to attract thousands of visitors.

Opening Festivities

On April 20th, per tradition, the mayor of Stuttgart will open the festival by tapping the barrel. This will take place at noon; however, all participating businesses will be open by 11 a.m. that day.

Food and Beverages

One of the main attractions at the Frühlingsfest is the beer tent. The tent offers customers a wide range of refreshing German beer, as well as a comfortable place to enjoy conversation with family and friends. Scattered across the fairgrounds are about 250 businesses, including food and snacks of all kinds. From crepes to glazed fruit, they have it all!

Attractions

For the young and young at heart, carnival rides are plentiful at Frühlingsfest. From a classic Ferris wheel to a hodge-podge of interactive funhouses, such as the Haunted Mansion, there is no shortage of entertainment available! Prefer to keep two feet on the ground? Well, there are an assortment of carnival games available as well. There will be several raffles going on with desirable prizes, as well as timeless games such as cork shooting located around the fairgrounds. More interested in shopping? Frühlingsfest offers a flea market with diverse vendors selling everything from local art pieces to homemade jewelry. If you have little ones, Wasenhasi (the mascot of the festival) will be roaming the fairgrounds and is available for pictures! What better way to wrap up an eventful day in Stuttgart than with fireworks? Guests can enjoy a musical firework display at the end of the night that is sure to amaze and impress!
