EUROPE

Next week, most American Forces Network (AFN) news and sports programming will start an hour earlier when Europe goes from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time.

The earlier start times are in effect from Oct. 30-Nov. 6. On Nov. 6, news and sports programming will return to its regularly scheduled times. Europe switches to Standard time Oct. 30 at 2 a.m., Central European Time (CET), a week before the United States.

For example, “The O’Reilly Factor” usually airs on AFN|news at 11 a.m. CET followed at noon by “Rachel Maddow.” During the one-week time change, O’Reilly will air at 10 a.m., followed at 11 a.m. by Maddow.

The only news program not affected by the time change is “60 Minutes,” which will continue to air at its regularly scheduled times.

On Nov. 6, all programming aired on AFN|news, AFN|sports and AFN|sports2 will go back to normally scheduled times.

The time change has a minimal impact on AFN|movie, AFN|family, AFN|prime Atlantic, AFN|prime Pacific and AFN|spectrum. Most of the shows or programs on these channels are pre-recorded. AFN will repeat one show on each channel to adjust to the time change.

AFN radio is minimally affected by Europe’s time change.
