Eleemosynary explores the delicate relationship between an eccentric grandmother, Dorothea, her brilliant daughter, Artie, and Artie’s daughter, Echo. After Dorothea, who has been Echo’s sole caregiver, suffers a stroke, Echo re-establishes contact with Artie, but the communication only consists of small talk over the telephone. When Dorothea ultimately passes, Artie & Echo must summon the courage to try, at last, to build a life together – despite the risks and terrors this holds for each of them after so many years of alienation and estrangement.
