With leaves rapidly changing to vibrant colors and chilly brisk mornings, autumn has arrived in Germany. What better way to celebrate the changing of seasons than with a festival! Held twice a year, the Lauterer Kerwe in downtown Kaiserslautern opens Oct. 18 and will run through Oct. 28.
Festivities begin with the traditional keg tapping in the bistro tent. Delicious festival food and drinks will be plentiful, as well as wares by many unique and local vendors. It’s a great chance to get an early jump on holiday shopping. Get your adrenaline pumping with one of the thrilling rides, or take a leisurely ride on the Ferris wheel for a spectacular view of the city at dusk. Stay for the dazzling fireworks display Oct. 28 that close this awesome event with a bang.
