This year marks the 500th anniversary of the start of the Reformation, and Wittenberg is considered the heart of the movement. Martin Luther, an influential Protestant leader, valued music’s contribution to faith.
This year’s Wittenberger Renaissaince Muiskfestival (running from Friday, Oct. 20 through Sunday, Nov. 5) is dedicated to Luther and will honor him with performances featured music, songs and dances from his time. Attend the concerts, participate in educational workshops, see traditional instruments on display and walk the streets Luther frequented half-a-millennium ago.
