The American Forces Network (AFN) is giving the U.S. military serving overseas a minimum of 24 hours of live dedicated election night coverage spread out across three channels. The extensive real-time reporting comes from the nation’s top cable networks and offers three distinctive viewpoints.
AFN’s coverage begins midnight Nov. 8 Central European Time/8 a.m. Nov. 9 Japan-Korea time and runs for about eight continuous hours on AFN|news, AFN|prime Atlantic and AFN|prime Pacific. AFN|news will feature CNN, AFN|prime Atlantic will air MSNBC and AFN|prime Pacific will offer the Fox News Network.
“The free and open selection of our leaders is central to the American idea of democracy,” said AFN News programmer Mike Roberts. “Around the clock, the AFN audience stands on the ramparts of that great idea; our mission is to give them the best possible view of what they’re defending.”
AFN Radio will have continuous election updates with its top of the hour radio news from the Associated Press as well as live updates on its AFN 360 Internet Radio service, AFN Voice. AFN Voice is available via the AFN360 player at www.afneurope.net/AFN-360 or www.afnpacific.net/AFN-360, or you may download the App for your smartphone.
