German airline, TUIfly, has been forced to cancel nearly all of its Friday flights after a vast majority of its 2400 employees, including cabin crew and pilots, called in sick amidst talks of a merger with Air Berlin.

Charter planes from other airlines have been secured to bring a handful of vacationers home, but many passengers have been left in travelers’ purgatory.

Further cancellations are expected over the weekend.
