If you’ve brought your furry friend to Bahrain, you must register them at the veterinary clinic within one week of arriving.
REQUIREMENTS
You must provide documentation/proof of at least one dose of all required vaccines during the pet’s lifetime.
All pets must have a 15-digit ISO-compliant microchip implanted.
Your pet must be older than four months of age upon entry.
Vaccinations:

IMPORTING YOUR PET
Your pet(s) must receive a Health Certificate within 10 days of travel.
Once your pet’s vaccination and microchip information have been verified, NSA Bahrain VTF will prepare your import memorandum and your sponsor may pick it up during regular business hours.
Your sponsor must take the import memorandum to the Kingdom of Bahrain Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Wealth Directorate Veterinary Quarantine Office, who will issue your Animal Import Certificate (only valid for 30 days).
Your sponsor must meet you at the airport with the original import permit.
BAHRAINI VETERINARY CLINICS
Taking your pet to a Bahraini veterinarian clinic is recommended for emergency and specialty needs. Because the veterinarian clinic on the installation has tight mission demands, many individuals utilize the veterinarians off-installation.
SHIPPING PETS
NMCRS provides assistance with air shipping fees of pets due to PCS orders OCONUS when the DoD is unable to support PCS air shipping options for pets (defined by DoD as dog or cat DoDI 4545.13) to/from OCONUS locations an interest free loan for the air shipping costs for up to two pets may be provided up to $5500.
TRAVELING WITHOUT YOUR PET
If you plan on traveling while in Bahrain, be sure to register your pet at the clinic on-installation, where they will provide you a list of local boarding facilities.
BEAT THE HEAT
During the summer months, be sure to keep your furry friend hydrated and provide booties to protect their paws on the hot ground. For airline travel, note that most airlines will not ship pets during the summer months.
