In Hunsrück floats Germany’s most beautiful suspension bridge, the Geierlay. Walk through the forest to arrive at the 360-meter-long and 100-meter-high bridge over a valley and breathe in the fresh air.

Accessible only by foot or bicycle, drive to and park at the visitor center in the town of Mörsdorf. Although bridge admission is free, there is a small parking fee that goes towards upkeeping the facility. Wander around the inside of the visitor center where you’ll find pamphlets and two screens that show you information about how the bridge came about. Walk 1.2 kilometers along a footpath from the visitor center to reach the bridge.

If you’re up for a longer day, there are several circular hikes surrounding the Geierlay ranging from 3 kilometers to 14 kilometers. The paths vary from a walk that doesn’t cross the bridge to steep rope secured paths to guided tours.
