One of the oldest and largest regional trade shows in Germany opens Saturday, April 29 in Mannheim. Since the early 1600s, the Mannheim Maimarkt has become a hallmark festival in the spring. This 11-day fair features more than 1,400 vendors and exhibits.
The Mannheim Maimarkt focuses on home improvement, personal health and wellness, rest and relaxation, education and more. Learn gardening techniques, how to spring clean (just in time for PCS season), or discover new places to add to your European bucket list. Shop the latest fashions and peruse beautifully handcrafted one-of-a-kind goods. Or sip delicious wines from award-winning vintners while noshing on tasty local treats.
For animal lovers, be sure to check out the farm area. Similar to livestock shows in the States, little ones can visit the petting zoo and learn about different animals such as horses, donkeys, cows, pigs, rabbits and more. If you’re looking for a little more action, stay for the impressive world-class equestrian jumping and dressage competitions.
The Mannheim Maimarkt runs from April 29 through May 9. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking is available; however, the fair is conveniently located near the Mannheim Arena/Maimarkt train station. Special tickets and fares are available for the Maimarkt.
