Entertaining energetic children while also finding something you like can be a challenge. Hiking is a fabulous way to see some of the astounding beauty Austria has to offer. It gets you away from the inner city and into some of nature’s most splendid landscapes. If you have kids, hiking may be a challenge. However, the Bear Trail Lidaun is ideal for families with small children.
This mostly ground-level hike, spanning 5.72 miles, will take you around the town and surrounding nature in Faistenau. Starting in the village center, kids will love going on a hunt for a bear cave! Walk through the forest toward the cave while stopping along the way to read five informative boards about the last bears in the area. On the boards there are also questions to answer. Collect the letters from the answers and bring the word your child spelled to the Tourist Office Faistenau, where they can collect a surprise!
If you find yourself staying outside of Salzburg near Faistenau, don’t miss this great opportunity to explore the great outdoors with your kids! The entire trail takes just under four hours and is a great way to get active kids outside and moving. Bring the dog and make this adventure outing for the entire family!
