On the last Wednesdays in August, the town of Bunol, Spain hosts the ‘World’s Biggest Food Fight’ – the La Tomatina Festival.

Visitors come from all over the world for the chance to pelt each other with thousands upon thousands of tomatoes. Although the festival spans just one day, more than 100 metric tons of over-ripe tomatoes will be thrown!

The event has continued to gain popularity over the years (who doesn’t love a good food fight?), making tickets mandatory for participation. The organizers offer hotel packages, tickets to the festival and parties.

Even if you don’t get a ticket to the big food fight itself, there are several other chances to celebrate all things tomato, with the Pre La Tomatina Party, the Official After Party and Valencia Boat Party.

Come for the food or the fun, but either way – you are guaranteed to have a great time at La Tomatina!
