GONDWANA - Das Praehistorium (Kat Nickola)
Neunkirchen, Erlebnisort Landsweiler-Reden - In the second half of the GONDWANA - Das Praehistorium museum, for many years the Zeit Express Reise Agentur (Z.E.R.A.) has been overseeing time travel through the most important stages of human evolution. This fictional “time express travel agency” transports visitors from the present day to the earliest beginnings of human ancestors and the age of the dinosaurs.
Read about our visit to GONDWANA - Das Praehistorium.
Robotic replicas of living creatures in lifelike prehistoric landscapes, supported by technically excellent light, sound and speech simulations, turn the journey through time into a unique experience.
Starting with exhibition of the ISS space station with astronaut Stephen Robinson on August 3, 2005 and going back in time to a vast arid landscape populated by giant dinosaurs on the ancient continent of Gondwana, visitors experience a thrilling tour, including the the asteroid impact and through the most important stages of human evolution in a total of 13 scenes.
The end of this journey has been the spectacular dinosaur show, ending with the devastating asteroid impact around 65 millions years ago. Now, visitors have a new experience: the interactive exhibit allows them to be evacuated from the impact sight with the help of a rescue drone newly deployed by Z.E.R.A.
This new attraction at “GONDWANA - Das Praehistorium” called “Rescue from Prehistoric Times” simulates a flight through time with the 143rd Z.E.R.A. rescue drone, showing the Earth’s climate history to visitors in an exciting and entertaining way in the form of an intertemporal rescue mission.
The special mission takes visitors on a rapid, random flight from the Earth’s formation approximately 4.6 billion years ago through many adventurous events back to the present day. Visitors experience, among other things, the formation of the Moon, the icy “Snowball Earth,” violent volcanic eruptions, asteroid impacts and more.
This way, visitors are made aware of the most important climatic events in Earth’s history and are shown that most of these events represented a catastrophe for many of the living beings present at the time, but also enabled other life forms to flourish or even develop.
