Though it would be ideal celebrating the day when everyone is Irish in Dublin, you can still shout “Slainte ” as you clink your glasses of Guinness in these five pubs throughout Germany to celebrate the luck of the Irish!

Kilian’s Irish Pub – Munich

If you have the feeling you’re missing out on celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland, head to Kilian’s. After a few too many Guinness, you’ll forget you’re in Germany! This popular Irish pub offers live music every evening and also televises an array of sports. Be sure to save an appetite for Irish specialties such as beef and Guinness stew as well as fish and chips. Since you’re already in Munich, check out the St. Patrick’s Day parade which is considered to be the city’s largest multicultural event, after Oktoberfest and Fasching.

The Lir – Berlin

Berlin is known for being hipster and quirky, but on March 17, it’s known for the Funkturm being lit in green. Many sights are also lit up in this festive color. Be sure to take the festivities over to The Lir, a well-raved Irish pub located in Berlin’s historic Tiergarten-Mitte district. The bar serves everything from pints of Guinness, Ireland’s national drink, to a classic Shepard’s pie.

Waxy’s Irish Pub – Frankfurt

Step inside Waxy’s and it will feel as if you’ve stepped into a cozy bar and restaurant in the Irish countryside. Aside from the usual suspects – Guinness, Kilkenny and a Black and Tan, Waxy also provides an assortment of Irish whiskies. If all those drinks have got you feeling hungry, order their famous buffalo wings, and since it is St. Patrick’s Day, try it with a sweet Guinness barbeque sauce.

Tip: In order to make sure your St. Patrick’s celebration is successful, be sure to book a table ahead of time as the bar will be busy. Waxy’s caters for parties of all sizes.

Fatty’s Irish Pub – Düsseldorf

The trendy and chic city of Dusseldorf knows how to let loose on this special day at Fatty’s, located in the Alstadt or old city. If you’re wondering what food to pair with your beer, look no further! At this quirky, Irish-themed bar, you’ll not only get your fill of Irish beer but also nachos and other Mexican food – that’s right, Mexican. Channel your inner leprechaun and cheers to a memorable St. Patty’s Day celebration.

Jameson Distillery Pub – Cologne

As far as beer goes, Cologne may be known for Kölsch, but on St. Patrick’s Day, libations happen at the Jameson Distillery Pub where many international draught beers such as Kilkenny and Guinness are ordered. The pub also has a wide selection of whiskies. Located in the bustling Friesenquarter, the area comes alive during the night and resembles the vibes of Temple Bar in Dublin.
