Stuttgart, Germany – Used Car Guys Stuttgart is proud to launch the John S. Sweeney Memorial Scholarship Fund, an exciting opportunity for creative talent in the USAG Stuttgart community. Honoring the legacy of John S. Sweeney, a passionate advocate for exploration, storytelling, and mentorship, this scholarship encourages students to share their unique perspectives on the beauty and adventure of Europe.
Scholarship Details: One scholarship of $1,000 USD will be awarded to the winner, along with a paid opportunity to create a professional video for Used Car Guys Stuttgart’s promotional campaigns.
How to Participate: Applicants are invited to create a 1-3 minute video showcasing a European location, event, or experience that inspires exploration. Videos must include the phrase and hashtag #ExploreEurope. Submissions are due no later than April 30, 2025.

Eligibility: The scholarship is open to high school juniors, seniors, and adult learners in the USAG Stuttgart community. Applicants must be dependents of Department of Defense ID cardholders stationed or working in Stuttgart or assigned remotely.
Why Apply?
No GPA required – the focus is on creativity and passion. Open to both traditional and off-cycle students. Showcase content creation and video editing talent. A chance to gain recognition and support for educational and career goals.
The winning video will be selected through an online voting process, with participants encouraged to share their entries widely to garner support.

The Used Car Guys Explore Europe Campaign was initiated by our late brother, John S. Sweeney.
John was a passionate advocate for adventure, storytelling, and connecting with others through shared experiences. His love for exploring Europe was more than a personal hobby—it was his mission to encourage members of the Military community based in Europe to step out of their comfort zones, get off the base and discover the hidden gems of this incredible continent.
John brought his passion to life through a captivating podcast series, Explore Europe, where he shared travel tips, unforgettable stories, and deep insights into the rich cultures and destinations he loved.
Beyond his love of exploration, John had a remarkable gift for mentoring and inspiring young talent. He saw potential in everyone, always eager to guide and encourage others to develop their skills and realize their dreams. Whether through his work, his podcast, or his personal interactions, John left an indelible mark on the lives of those he mentored.
In honor of John’s memory and his dedication to inspiring exploration, the John S. Sweeney Memorial Scholarship Fund seeks to carry forward his legacy. This scholarship not only supports talented individuals within the USAG Stuttgart community (later to be expanded to the KMC) but also encourages them to share their unique perspectives on the beauty of Europe through storytelling and creativity. By participating, students will not only celebrate John’s vision but also have the opportunity to embark on their own journeys of discovery.
