Children may think of moving to Spain as an exciting new adventure. They may also struggle with the big change. Luckily, there are resources at NAVSTA Rota to help your kids settle into their new home.

Child Development Center (CDC)

The CDC offers weekday childcare for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. The CDC is a large facility with age-appropriate rooms and a developmental curriculum. Beginning at 4 years old, the Sure Start pre-kindergarten program is offered.

• Visit www.militarychildcare.com to get registered or placed on a waitlist for full-time childcare.

• Hourly care is offered on a space-available basis. Visit the CDC to register and then you can sign up by calling or via the Navy CYP website: myffr.navyaims.com/cyms.html.

School Age Care (SAC)

Bldg. 41 | 727-2839, 956-82-2839

SAC is for school aged children who are attending kindergarten through 12 years old. The SAC facility offers before and after-school care that includes structured recreation and homework help in a dedicated building with a playground.

• Hourly care is space-available. Register at the SAC and then you can sign up by calling or via the Navy CYP website: myffr.navyaims.com/cyms.html.

Youth Programs (YP)

Bldg. 3053 | 727-4625, 956-82-4625

The youth program has a large youth center beside the DoDEA school for youth aged 10 to 18. They offer homework help, gaming, LEGO, arts and crafts, musical space, foosball and pool tables, daily activities, hang-out space and organized clubs. Outside the center is a basketball court and skate park. There are also special events and field trips, plus special activities during school breaks.

• The “Jams” area is for tweens ages 10–12.

• The “Gravity” space is for teenagers 13–18.

Child and Youth Sports (CYS)

 Bldg. 41 | 727-4721, 956-82-4721

This large program offers seasonal sports like football, baseball, basketball, soccer and others for youth, and Smart Start sports for kids ages 3–5. Youth must be registered with CYP before they can be registered for sports.

The Tiburones Rota Swim Club is a non-profit swim club for school-aged kids that has classes and meets. They are not affiliated with CYS.
