Giving birth in a Bahraini hospital can be a wonderful experience. During your pregnancy, you can receive prenatal care at NMRTU if you are eligible for care. Please inquire with the clinic for eligibility requirements.

Community Resources

The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society holds Budget for Baby Workshops which provide financial education and resources to expectant parents. Participants leave with a gift card and handmade baby blanket. Contact bahrain@nmcrs.org for more information.

Women Infant and Child (WIC) Overseas provides several important benefits that help families live healthier lives. Families with infants, children, pregnant women, postpartum women and breastfeeding women should contact WIC Overseas Bahrain to see if they qualify at 439-4781 or visit https://www.tricare.mil/wic.

First steps after giving birth

At the beginning of your pregnancy, the clinic will provide you with an informational package detailing the steps you must take in order to obtain your baby’s passport and other documentation after birth. These steps include:

  • Enrolling your baby in DEERS.

  • Getting a no-fee official U.S. passport.

  • Getting a Consulate Report of a Birth Abroad (birth certificate).

  • Adding your baby to the Command Sponsorship Database.
