Make your own Glühwein Compote

Adapted from allgermantastes.com

This delicious fruity compote is a great topping for ice cream, cakes, tortes and more.

What you need:

• 2 cups glühwein (or red grape juice for alcohol-free)

• ¼ cup rum (or a non-alcoholic substitute such as Lyre’s White Cane spirit)

• 3.4 ounce box of instant pudding (we recommend French vanilla, white chocolate, vanilla, cheesecake or butterscotch varieties)

• 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder

• 1 tablespoon vanilla-flavored plant-based milk

• 48 ounces of frozen mixed berries. A combination of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and/or cranberries works well. You can also add apples, pears, kiwi, cherries, pineapple, mango, grapes or plums. Make it your own.

• (Optional) lemon zest

• (Optional) dark chocolate shavings, to taste

How to make it:

1. Pour glühwein and rum into a medium-sized pot.

2. Add the instant pudding, cinnamon powder and vanilla plant milk, and whisk the mixture until everything is well blended and smooth.

3. Heat on medium-high for five minutes.

4. Add the frozen berries and mix carefully.

5. Shut off the heat and allow the mixture to sit until the berries are defrosted.

6. Serve warm or chilled.
