Moving to Germany has been a wonderful and exciting experience. However, it seemed like there were no conventions or events to revel in the fandom with fellow lovers of movies, anime, comic books and other popular culture. Apparently, I was wrong. If you are looking for pop culture events this month we’ve got you covered.
Anime Festival: Sept. 3-4: Freiburg | Featuring anime, cosplay, concerts, special guests, film screenings, and manga.
The Fantasy and Role Play Convention (FaRK): Sept. 9-11: Losheim am See | Featuring cosplay, wrestling, science fiction, fantasy, a discussion on the 1960s Batman show, steampunk, live action role playing (LARPing) and concerts.
Nicon 2022: Sept. 9-11: Hannover | Featuring anime workshops, special guests, competitions, karaoke, concerts and film screenings.
Annotopia 2022: Sept. 10-11: Rotenburg | Featuring fantasy-themed markets, culinary treats, Vikings, pirates, medieval knights, artisan crafts, music and entertainment.
Noris Force Con: Sept 16-18: Fürth | Star Wars charity convention (“for fans by fans”) featuring lightsaber training, cosplay, special guests, lectures and fan films “with 100% of the net proceeds go to the Animal Welfare Association Nuremberg-Fürth and Surroundings eV.”
Comic and Manga Convention: Sept. 17: Oberhausen | Featuring comics, manga, artists, dealers, cosplay and publishers.
JenaCo: Sept. 17: Jena | Featuring anime, manga, workshops, market hall, cosplay village, concerts, karaoke, game room, special guests, competitions, creative station, DDR station and entertainment.
Science Fiction Meeting: Sept. 24-25: Technik Museum, Speyer | The ultimate meeting place for Star Wars, Marvel, Star Trek and DC fans, featuring cosplay, special guests, dealers, fan clubs, lectures and shows.
