“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” by the Amelia Earhart Playhouse (AEP show program)
Directed by Elizabeth Evans, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” by the Amelia Earhart Playhouse is lighthearted and nostalgic, full of heart and offers a joyful escape into the world of childhood wonder. With its mix of humor, catchy musical numbers and genuine emotions, the performance strikes a beautiful balance between playful energy and heartfelt sincerity.
Set over the course of an average day in the life of Charlie Brown (Wyatt Evans), the musical follows him and the rest of the Peanuts gang as they navigate school, friendship, baseball and self-doubt. Evans portrays Charlie Brown with the right mixture of awkward charm and quiet optimism that draws us into the story.
The cast is small but mighty, each performer bringing warmth, humor, and heart to their roles.
When Sally (Amanda Kimball) gets a D on her homework assignment, her frustration quickly turns into a hilarious and spirited declaration of personal rules as she belts out “My New Philosophy.” Kimball brings sharp comedic timing and vibrant energy to capture the dramatic highs and lows of childhood logic.
Costumes are simple, yet instantly recognizable, capturing the essence of each character. The use of bold, iconic colors and patterns, like Charlie Brown’s zigzag stripe and Lucy’s blue dress allows us to connect with the characters right away.
Two standout set pieces are the iconic red doghouse and Schroder’s (Jon Townsend) piano. The piano becomes more than just a prop and is practically a character of its own. It adds both humor and heart to the show. Whether Schroeder was passionately playing classical music or dodging Lucy’s (Brittani Parker) relentless admiration, the piano grounds his scenes and brings out his quirky artistic personality.

From the smallest gestures to full musical numbers, each cast member brings energy and authenticity that makes this show a joy to watch.
The heartfelt and memorable performance by CH (Maj) Warwick Fuller as Linus emphasizes his connection with his trusty Blanket (Amy Nichols). It is both endearing and comical, adding a unique charm to the scene they share.
Later, we experience a thrilling fantasy as Snoopy (understudy Chantel Thompson) sits atop her doghouse, transforming into a fearless World War 1 flying ace determined to take down the Red Baron. Thompson soars with charisma and comedic timing, while Amy Nichols as Woodstock adds just the right touch of whimsy. The scene captures the boundless creativity that makes the Peanuts universe so special, and Thompson brings infectious energy and charisma to her understudy role.
The show closes on a touching and uplifting note as the entire gang comes together to sing “Happiness,” a heartfelt number that captures the simple joys of friendship, kindness and being true to yourself. It’s a warm, feel-good ending that leaves the audience smiling; a beautiful reminder that even on the most ordinary days, there is magic and beauty in small moments and simple joys.
