The Terrace Playhouse in Ansbach offers an entertaining evening of eclectic pieces ranging from philosophical lobsters to an avant gard piece about a relationship that takes place between a salt and pepper shaker; two salesmen discussing inventions and a grandmother imparting her wisdom about life.

“A Mixed Bag” is an assortment of four one act plays combining comedy, drama and heartfelt storytelling. Each offers moments that will make you laugh, cry and contemplate in-depth relationships. These performances really make you think about the meaning of life and how you can learn that lesson, even from lobsters.

The black box vibe of the performance really works to keep the evening fresh and tied together. With minimalist sets, each play blends into the others and the evening spotlights the characters, actors and themes of each one-act play.

Two cast members are featured in each of the one-act plays, allowing them to tell an entire tale with brevity and intention. The close-knit relationship between the group of  cast members, directors and stage crew at the Terrace Playhouse are evident as they perform in unity and with a family-like appeal.

As always, the Terrace Playhouse has a small jazz bar feel. Seating at tables with lit candles set the mood for pure entertainment.
