Boy and girl playing with rabbits ()

With Germany offering nine euro local/regional train tickets this summer, you now have even more of a reason outside of this beautiful weather to go out there and explore with your kids. Each ticket is good for the month of June, July or August, and provides you with unlimited travel on local/regional transport services during the selected month (for example, tickets purchased on June 15 are valid through June 30). Here are five places in Rheinland-Pfalz where you can go for a family-friendly adventure.

  1. Technik Museum Speyer Kids and adults alike will have fun going down the “Big Slide” and being greeted by a Boeing 747. Catch a film in the IMAX Dome theatre. Inspect the inside of a rescue cruiser and submarine or climb around in the original Jumbo Jet. Find out more about arriving by public transportation here.

  1. Holiday Park Coast along the water through a prehistoric landscape and see lifelike dinosaurs. Meet SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora, Diego and the animals from Paw Patrol. Ride the antique carousel, splash in the Dancing Fountains and take flight in the Balloon Race. Find out more about arriving by train here.

  1. Eifelpark With more than 200 animals and 60 attractions, there is something for everyone to see and do at Eifelpark. Freefall from 80 meters on the Graviator Spinning Drop Tower, watch the birds of prey show or, for those with smaller children, peruse and play in Purzel's pirate paradise. Find out more about arriving by train here.

Adventure Forest Located halfway between Trier and Koblenz in Mosel, you will have the opportunity to attempt 14 different climbing courses that range in difficulty from “easy” to “Strongman.” For those who wish to keep their feet firmly planted on the ground, there are plenty of hiking opportunities or savor some coffee and cake on the rooftop terrace.
