As sports teams and leagues restart their seasons after all the shutdowns of the spring, many of us are thrilled to have our teams to cheer for again, even if it means watching them from the comforts of our home. For the players, teams have found ways to try and fill their stadiums with the feeling of having fans and viewers there with them. That said, nothing quite replicates going to your favorite arena or stadium with fellow fans and rivals and being immersed in a game or match.
Maybe you miss going to see your favorite professional sports team or maybe you miss the atmosphere of tailgating a college football game. Or you just miss the ritual of Friday night basketball games, hearing the pep band play and hanging out with the other student fans and families.
Nothing can quite replace the energy, excitement and enthusiasm of hundreds or thousands of people taking in an event. And nothing beats the taste of a ballpark hotdog, some peanuts, sunflower seeds or even a bag of cotton candy.
Whether it’s hockey, baseball, football, boxing or even Jamaican bobsledding, there are amazing stories of athletes, coaches, teams and fans throughout history. Until we are able to return to sporting events, don’t forget about some of the many great sports films you can watch to feel the team spirit and cheer on your favorite athletes.
So, grab your comfiest jersey and favorite gameday snack and pick a movie to get you cheering. While not an exhaustive list, here are a few favorite sports movies to get you started:
“Remember the Titans”
“Rudy”
“The Blind Side”
“42”
“The Rookie”
“A League of Their Own”
“The Natural”
“The Sandlot”
“Field of Dreams”
“Moneyball”
“Miracle on Ice”
“Rocky”
“Million Dollar Baby”
“Bend It Like Beckham”
“Tin Cup”
“Cool Runnings”
“Chariots of Fire”
“Seabiscuit”

What’s your favorite part of going to see your favorite team play? How can you bring some of that spirit home?
